To uninstall the SDDR-289 Firmware update tool navigate to the Software listed under your Applications folder and drag it to the trash. Once the Updater is in the trash empty the trash to completely remove it from your system.

Note: In Mac OS 10.9.1 you may receive a message that state the application cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. This notification simply states the firmware update tool has not been signed by Apple. To override this notification and proceed with the installation see the steps below.

To override your security settings and open the app anyway:

  • In the Finder, locate the app you want to open.
Don't use Launchpad to do this. Launchpad doesn't allow you to access the shortcut menu.
  • Press the Control key, then click the app icon.
  • Choose Open from the shortcut menu.
The app is saved as an exception to your security settings, and you will be able to open it in the future by double-clicking it, just like any registered app.
  • Click Open.
